Marta Hofacre
AIM Coordinator, Membership Manager
Marta Hofacre is retired from trombone teaching and performing and is currently Serials and Preservation Library Assistant at the Virginia Historical Society in Richmond.
During her music career, she taught at Albion College Michigan and Murray State University Kentucky before joining the faculty at The University of Southern Mississippi in 1981. She was an active soloist/clinician, as well as freelance performer in the southeastern United States. She performed as principal trombonist of the Meridian and Pensacola Symphonies and also performed with the Mississippi Symphony, Mississippi Ballet, Mississippi Opera, Port City Symphony, Tupelo Symphony, Mobile Opera, Pensacola Ballet, Pensacola Opera, Capital Brass, and Mississippi Wind Symphony. Her students were active performers as well and were regular winners of the USM Concerto Competition and national and international competitions. The USM Trombone Choir performed frequently throughout the southern region.
