For bass trombonists ages 25 and under (birth date of January 1, 1982 or later)

Prizes will be announced at a later date

The 2008 ITA Competitions General Rules and Requirements must be strictly followed to avoid disqualification.

Additional Rules

• Past winners of the Lewis Van Haney Philharmonic Prize Bass Trombone Competition are not eligible in the 2008 Kleinhammer Bass Trombone Competition.

Preliminary Round

Sonata Breve for unaccompanied bass trombone, Mvt. 1—Tenuto

Haydn

Creation—No. 26 Beginning to Letter C

Kodaly

Hary Janos—Battle and Defeat of Napoleon—5th bar after No. 5 to “Lunga Pausa”

Berlioz

Hungarian March—6 bars before No. 20 to end of 2nd bar after No. 21

Schumann

Symphony No. 3—Beginning to 13th bar after Letter A (Note: Don’t count out the 3 bars rest—just pause but record continuously)

Wagner

Ride of the Walküres—pickup to No. 4 to No. 5; pickup to No. 6 to 3rd bar after No. 7 (3rd trombone part)

Final Round
