The Program:

Edward Elgars best-known large-scale composition, Enigma Variations, opens the program. Recognized for both the music and mysteries behind it, the piece features fourteen musical portrayals of Elgar and his wifes dearest friends. The program continues with Carl Maria von Weber's Concertino transcribed for euphonium, featuring Principal Trombonist with the Kansas City Symphony, Roger Oyster on the euphonium. And finally, Maestro Hankewich is thrilled to present his favorite of the Brahms symphonies, the Third. This performance completes Maestro Hankewich s Brahms Symphony Cycle with Orchestra Iowa, first began in 2007.
