Dee Stewart

M. Dee Stewart, has been trombone and euphonium professor at Indiana University since 1980. Prior to that he was a member of the Philadelphia Orchestra for 18 years.
He has presented master classes and recitals worldwide. He has served as the director of the Lewis Van Haney Philharmonic Prize since its inception in 1993. His recordings include Stewart Sounds, Trombones Under the Tree with Joe Alessi, Mark Lawrence and Carl Lenthe and Grammy-award winning recordings with the Philadelphia Brass Ensemble. Students hold major positions as performers and pedagogues. His books include Arnold Jacobs: Legacy of a Master. He was an organizer of the Second International Brass Conference. Awards include the Distinguished Achievement Award of 1991 the Indiana University School of Music Teaching Excellence Recognition Award 1998, and he Neill Humfeld Award for Teaching Excellence given by the International Trombone Association in 1998.
