Trombone Unit 2000

Trombone Unit 2000 was founded by accident in 1999, when Christian Lindberg with some friends were asked to play a tune or two at a reception in the Stockholm basement of the shop Brassspecialisten. Christian wrote two short pieces for the four trombonists, and the response from the crowd was so electrifying and explosive that the four trombonists decided to continue playing together as a permanent group. The fact that they all played the CONN-88H with the new CL-2000 Rotor system made the sound of the group somewhat unique, and could have been the reason for the wonderful impact this concert had, and since then this particular sound has been their trademark, and also the main reason for their continued future success. In January 2000 the group was extended to a sextet, adding Jessica Gustavsson and bass trombonist Lars Westergren, and their debut album was released on the record company BIS. The CD received rave reviews from a broad international press, and has been a bestseller for this internationally established record company. Their appearance in Denton will be their first in North America, and as a guest artist they have the composer, narrator and presentor Fredrik Högberg.
