Upper Midwest Trombone Summit
The third "Upper Midwest Trombone Summit" took place on Sunday, October 25 at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. Trombone ensembles that performed at the festival included Lawrence University (Nick Keelan, director), UW River Falls (Rick Gaynor, director), Gustavus Adolphus (Scoot Moore, director), and UW Eau Claire (Phil Ostrander, director). Carl Lenthe (faculty, Indiana University) was the featured guest artist at the Summit and worked with students from all ensembles. Also joining the festival were faculty from the University of Minnesota (John Tranter), UW Whitewater (Mike Dugan), and faculty emeriti at UW Eau Claire (Rodney Hudson) as well as trombone instrument representatives from Conn-Selmer, B&S, Edwards, Getzen, and Greenhoe.
