Robert Isele (91) In Memoriam

Legendary trombone soloist of the U.S. Marine Band, Robert Isele, passed away on December 8, 2009 at his home in Camp Hill, PA at the age of 91. His career in the Marine Band spanned four decades, from the 1930's to the 1960's, followed by a second career in the National Symphony Orchestra until his retirement in the early 1980's. Those who heard him were touched by his unique musical artistry and virtuosity on the trombone. Those who knew him were touched by his unique kindness, warmth, and modesty. He was a very special person who will be genuinely missed by all who knew him and heard him. The trombone world has lost a true legend and a great human being.
