Trombone Choir Composition Contest Announced

The Fifth Annual Texas Tech Trombone Choir Composition Contest:

The TTU Trombone Choir Composition Contest Committee is requesting original works for trombone choir with the following characteristics:

Duration: 4- 6 minutes in length

Instrumentation: 8 parts

Type of Work: Stand Alone Concert Piece

Suggested Material: Motives/themes from video game music

NOTE: Works are meant to be Original Compositions, NOT arrangements or medleys. The new works should be crafted to fit the timbre and characteristics of the trombone choir.

A $1,000.00 Cash Prize will be awarded to the winning composition.

Additional awards may be granted at the discretion of the contest adjudication panel.

FIRST PRIZE WINNERS CANNOT SUBMIT IN CONSECUTIVE YEARS.

The Top Selections may be performed at the Tenth Annual Big 12 Trombone Conference, scheduled for January 11-13, 2013 at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas. Notification will be sent out to those composers.

FURTHER RULES:

MIDI RECORDINGS ONLY (mp3s/CDs)! Live group recordings will not be considered.

ANY ARRANGEMENTS OR MEDLEYS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.

Composition submissions deadline is November 30, 2012. Entries may be submitted by postal mail or through the internet (postal mail submissions must be post marked by this date).

Please submit a full score, parts, a midi recording and a payment of $30.00 (checks made payable to Iota Tau Alpha or ITA)
