Ian Polster Retires from Springfield Symphony
Ian Polster retired as trombonist from the Springfield (Ohio) Symphony Orchestra after 50 continuous years of performances, 47 as Principal. Polster's career included being a Professor of Music at Wittenberg University for 33 years, an Associate Director of Bands at The Ohio State University, a stint with the Stan Kenton Orchestra, and a published composer and arranger of music for Bands, Orchestras, and Jazz Ensembles. His vitality continues, as he announced to the audience at the final SSO concert of the 2012 season, "I am not now, nor have I ever been...Dead."
