Cory Mixdorf Accepts position at University of Arkansas

Starting this August, Dr. Cory Mixdorf will be the new Assistant Professor of Trombone at the University of Arkansas. He will be taking over a strong studio lead for the past 43 years by the recently retired Gerald Sloan. Cory Mixdorf is coming from Atlanta where he has served as the Assistant Professor of Trombone at Georgia State University since 2009. Highlights of his performing experience include performances with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Dayton Philharmonic, the New World Symphony, the Columbus (GA) Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra Augusta, the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, and his most recent position as Acting Second Trombone with the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra. He also maintains a busy recital/clinician schedule as a soloist and as a member of The Blue Ridge Trombone Quartet. He holds a BA degree from the University of Northern Iowa as well as MM and DM degrees from Indiana University. Former teachers include: Brad Edwards, Bruce Tychinski, D. Paul Pollard, Nancy Vogt, M. Dee Stewart and Peter Ellefson. Dr. Mixdorf is a Conn-Selmer Artist.
