Brisbane Lower Brass Weekend
June 23 - June 25
The Brisbane Lower Brass Weekend (for trombone, euphonium and tuba) celebrates its fifth year in 2017. Join the Queensland Conservatorium lower brass faculty and invited guests (including principal musicians of the New Zealand Symphony, Sydney Symphony and Queensland Symphony Orchestras) for three intensive days of lower brass classes, performances and more.
The 2017 trombone faculty members are:
David Bremner (Section Principal Trombone – New Zealand Symphony, Musical Director – Wellington Brass)
Scott Kinmont (Associate Principal Trombone – Sydney Symphony, Australian Brass Quintet)
Matthew Allison (Associate Principal Trombone – New Zealand Symphony)
Shannon Pittaway (Principal Bass Trombone – New Zealand Symphony, Australian Brass Quintet)
Jason Redman (Section Principal Trombone – Queensland Symphony)
Dale Truscott (Associate Principal Trombone – Queensland Symphony)
Tom Coyle (Principal Bass Trombone – Queensland Symphony Orchestra)
Ben Marks (Trombonist – ELISION Ensemble)
Greg Aitken (Co-Chair of Brass – Queensland Conservatorium)
Participants will perform in solo workshops, ensemble workshops, brass band or contemporary music classes, in one of two professional orchestral sections for a section playing workshop, and in public concerts. For only $80 (adult) and $60 (concession) the three day event will be well worth the trip to Brisbane from overseas.
All playing standards from beginners through to professional musicians welcome and catered for in the event program.
