Fanfare submission


Welcome to the submission form for the ITA 50th Anniversary Trombone Fanfare Composition!

Before adding your piece for consideration, please review these submission requirements:

  1. The fanfare must be scored for 8 trombones (6 Tenor and 2 Bass Trombones).
  2. The fanfare should be within a Grade 3 – Easy Grade 4. View grade definitions here.
  3. The fanfare must be a maximum of 50 seconds long (or slightly under). 
  4. Fanfares must be clearly formatted (with a score and individual parts included) in a single PDF file. Exact tempo and style indications must be included. The composer’s name must be written in the score. No handwritten scores accepted.
  5. You may submit up to two fanfares for consideration.
  6. Each submission must include one PDF score (individual parts included; max 15MB) and one MIDI recording (WAV or mp3; max 30MB).

In pursuit of diversity, we especially invite individuals representing under-represented groups to apply!

Deadline: The competition closes at midnight (US Eastern Time) on December 31, 2022.

Judging: will begin in early 2023. The winner will be announced in February. The judges’ decision is final.

Please note: The winner of this competition agrees to extend their permission to ITA to publish the piece at no cost through December 2023. In addition, any trombone ensemble may record or perform the work without any compensation going to the composer.
