Assistant Professor, Low Brass/Music Theory (Tenure Track)

JOB DESCRIPTION OR DUTIES: The Music and Performing Arts Department at the University of Nebraska at Kearney is searching for an Assistant Professor of Low Brass/Music Theory (Tenure Track) to start in August of 2015.

Serve as Assistant Professor (tenure track) of Low Brass/Music Theory. Demonstrate a high level of performance ability and implementation of brass pedagogy. Responsibilities will include: teaching the low brass studio, directing the low brass ensemble, teaching music theory/ear training courses, and other courses appropriate to the candidates interests, experience, and departmental needs. In addition, active student recruitment and retention, scholarship (research/creative activity), and university service are required.

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Earned doctorate in music or ABD with degree completion by the time of appointment; experience in teaching low brass and music theory/ear training. Willingness to teach distance courses. Preferred: 1+ year(s) of college level teaching experience; experience advising undergraduate and/or graduate students; experience teaching distance courses.
