Score and parts

Primary Genre: Brass Ensemble - 5 brass

Hear the Joyful Tidings (Czech), He is Coming (Hungarian), All Hail the Young King (Croatian), Today We’ve Heard (Croatian) - these are presumably folk-melodies; the original titles are not given. All are simple and cheerful tunes, enjoyable additions to more familiar Christmas fare. The arrangements are well-written and of intermediate difficulty; ranges are comfortable. Each part gets a tune to play. All Hail the Young King is the most challenging selection. It is cast in D major and 5/8 meter. The other selections are in E-flat and 2/4 meter. First trumpet doubles on piccolo in all selections. Mutes (unspecified) are required for all parts. The trombone part is given in tenor clef, its range is d-g1. Dr. Hinterbichler is Professor of Trombone and Tuba at the University of New Mexico.
