Davide Delle Cese 1856-1938 was an Italian band-leader and composer. This is his best-known piece; it was published in 1871. He wrote it while he was bandmaster at Bitonto, a town near the Adriatic seaport city of Bari, a popular tourist destination at the time. It is not known whether or not he had any particular girl in mind.

This a cheerful piece in 2/4 meter, marked Tempo di Marcia. This arrangement is in E-flat, trio section in A-flat. It is an imaginative and well-crafted score. Tutti ensemble plays in only twelve measures, including the last two. No part contains any significant difficulties. Piccolo trumpet tops out at f³, b-flat trumpet 2 at c³. 1st trombone range is c-g¹; 2nd trombone range is G-e-flat¹. Both parts use bass clef. First part expands to divisi in one measure and the tuba part in seven measures. Jim Tempest lives in Vancouver and is Senior Director of Music for the Canadian Army.
