Primary Genre: Trombone Ensembles - 8 trombones

Here is another in Randall Malmstrom’s series of settings of orchestra works for trombone ensemble that presents a three minute excerpt from the finale of Bruckner’s fifth Symphony. Arranged for six tenors and two bass trombones (optional tuba), the arrangement is accessible for most university level trombone choirs. All eight parts feature regular and interesting melodic material and the top four parts require strong, confident performers; three use tenor clef. The arrangement is not too high though it is a blow and requires stamina. The arranger wisely staggers the sustained pedal FF's in the bass trombone parts. Opportunities to play Bruckner symphonies are rare and having the chance to play portions of these works and expose audiences to this music is valuable for students and professionals alike. Range FF to C-flat1. Grade 4.
