Salut d’Amour is a trombone quartet arrangement of Sir Edward Elgar’s famous work, composed in 1888, originally for violin and piano. This romantic serenade, arranged by Andrew Poirier, predominantly features the first part but significant melodic passages are interwoven into the second and third parts as well.

Engraving is clear throughout including articulations, dynamic markings, etc. Although the piece is only 84 measures long there are few rests in any of the parts. Possible breathing and endurance challenges are accompanied by the extended high register of the first part (d² is the highest note), as well as the universe of soft dynamics that require control throughout. The second and third parts both extend from A to g¹, and it may be advisable for those inner parts to be played a little louder to support the first part. The bass trombone part extends from AA to d.
