Tom Macaluso



Bio

Thomas Macaluso is a doctoral candidate studying trombone at the University of Wisconsin-Madison under Mark Hetzler. Mr. Macaluso has recently performed a series of trombone recitals throughout the state of Wisconsin in music appreciation series. He has performed with various chamber and symphonic groups including Isthmus Brass, The Louisville Orchestra, and The New York Chamber Players. Mr. Macaluso holds a master’s degree in trombone performance from University of Louisville and a bachelor’s degree in music education from SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music. An advocate of new music, Thomas’s research includes the commission, recording, and performance of Addiction’s Actuality, a new work for trombone, piano, and electronic sounds by Nathan Froebe. The theme of Addiction’s Actuality highlights some of the moods and emotions associated with addiction and recovery.
