East meets West Trombones

42-720The release of the East meets West Trombone choir CD is the culmination of a project that started back in the early 1980’s when Jay Friedman transcribed a couple of excerpts as an orchestral study, from the 1st act of Wagner’s Die Walkure, for his then low brass section of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, which he coaches still today.

In the mid 80’s, Jay founded the Chicago Trombone Choir, a 12-16 member group of students and professional players in the Chicago area. Since there was very little repertoire for that sized group, he started making arrangements of standard symphonic works for this group.

This has resulted in a CD with trombone choir arrangements called East meets West Trombones recorded on two occasions during the fall of 2014. A warm thank-you goes out to the players, who have donated their time for this project.

We are very proud to be able to offer a free stream of the CD to all ITA members. We hope you will enjoy it!
