Nicola Ferro World Premiere for Trombone

April 9 @ 7:00 pm

The Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra is presenting their final free community chamber music concert of the season at Kalamazoo First Presbyterian. The concert is centered around Italian works, including Puccini’s string quartet “Chrysanthemums,” to provide audiences with an opportunity to hear an additional work by the composer prior to the KSO’s production of Tosca the following week.

The concert includes the world premiere of Nicola Ferro’s newest work for trombone, “Arise”. The piece was commissioned by the KSO with additional support coming from members of the trombone community! The work exists in two versions: trombone & string quartet, trombone & piano. The version with string quartet will be performed at this premiere by members of the KSO including principal trombone Kip Hickman and the Burdick-Thorne String Quartet.
