score and parts

Primary Genre: Trombone Ensembles - 4 trombones

This short medley of the well-known Christmas songs Do You Hear What I Hear and Little Drummer Boy for trombone quartet and optional snare drum is a clean, festive arrangement by Lisa Albrecht, Associate Principal Trombonist of the Rochester Philharmonic. Apart from its obvious value during the holiday season, this is a really nice piece for a group of trombonists to read who have never played in a trombone quartet before. This is because the tunes are familiar and each part is no more difficult than the next, which allows for trading of parts on subsequent reads. Experienced trombonists may also wish to have this arrangement in their catalogue in case there is a need to “just read some charts” at a holiday gig. Each of the four parts are fun to play and not out of a high school students’ range - up to b-flat1 and down to D with simple rhythmic figures, key signatures and time signatures. All four parts are in given in bass clef. Although the rudimentary snare part is optional, it certainly adds a lot of ‘holiday cheer’ to the arrangement!
