From the arrangers, “These duets will work with any combination of any two wind instruments, so you can play carols with your friends no matter what instrument they play.” These 50 duets are simple arrangements for two instruments; the edition reviewed is in bass clef. All of the melodies contain pitches above the staff, none higher than g1, and key centers are “band” friendly, with only two duets scored in G. The arrangers use counterpoint and harmonization to create musical interest. Rhythms and articulations vary appropriately for each carol and some require second and third year ability. As explained by the arrangers, this collection is a resource for younger players (and older!) to play Christmas duets for any occasion.
