Primary Genre: Solo Tenor Trombone - with brass

This is a sturdy, convincingly Spanish-sounding solo trombone feature in a big band setting. The accompanying ensemble is all brass: 4 trumpets, 1 horn, 4 trombones, 1 tuba and drums. The trombone solo is eminently playable, limited only by the improvisational skills of the performer. The overall mood is set by accompanying Latin rhythms, ostinati, and syncopation. The ensemble makes use of Harmon and cup mutes and has its own featured sections. This piece, whose title translates as "Where the Sea Meets the Sky," as well as other fine works and excellent playing, can be heard on the group's compact disc, SUPERBRASS - Under the Spell of Spain, SBCD 1.
