Score and parts

Primary Genre: Trombone Ensembles - 4 trombones

This fun arrangement of the well-known Lassus Trombone for trombone quintet is a reproduction of the original score with two added sections at the end that are, in fact, quite humorous. Lennex calls for the quintet to play “Slowly as if inebriated” and then, “Slow and dirty.” As such, one can only imagine the theatrics that could be included at the end of this jaunt. This arrangement will make a fine encore, one that is sure to delight any audience. Not only is it familiar but it is also playable with minimal rehearsal time. Lennex does a good job of engaging all the voices, as each plays the melody at some point. The first trombonist must have a basic knowledge of jazz improvisation; there is a sixteen bar solo in B-flat a third of the way through the arrangement. Range is not terribly problematic, up to a c2 in the first part and down to FF in the bass part. All parts are written in bass clef and are tidy and easy to read. This is one of the better arrangements of Lassus Trombone I have come across.
