Primary Genre: Solo Tenor Trombone - with piano

Trombonists are familiar with this beautiful and often-borrowed work from the cello repertoire. The overall tessitura of the work is not difficult, but maintaining a controlled legato sound throughout the entire range of the work, D-c2, is challenging. Sauer’s arrangement keeps each study in its original key but he takes several phrases down an octave to make them possible, or practical, for trombone. Other changes include slight phrase modifications to accommodate added breath marks for trombone. This arrangement is faithful to the original and a valuable addition to the trombone repertoire.
