Score and parts

Primary Genre: Brass Ensemble - 5 brass

This is not an arrangement, but rather an original work in Renaissance-era style by Brian Joyce, a contemporary composer and music librarian at Miami University of Ohio. The work was inspired by the composer’s work with an early music ensemble during graduate school. The five movements are Branle de Bourgogne, Almain, Coranto, Pavan, and Galliard. All five parts are accessible and not too taxing; trombone range is G-f1. Mixed meters constitute the biggest challenge in preparing the work, especially for a student ensemble. Strong tuba and first trumpet players are necessary. However, every part provides rhythmic and melodic interest.
