Score and parts.

Primary Genre: Trombone Ensembles - 4 trombones

Most are familiar with this sonata which has been transcribed for trio in numerous instrumental combinations over the years, including the trombone trio version transcribed by Ralph Sauer and famously recorded in the 1970’s by members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic trombone section. In this version created for the Florida Orchestra low brass section, the arranger adds an additional part and essentially creates a full harmonization and realization of the continuo part. The parts have some flexibility in instrumental combination and could be played by four tenors, three tenors and bass, or two tenors, bass, and tuba. The main melodic line is completely in the first trombone part throughout, so this could be a vehicle for a trombone recital treating it as a solo with trio accompaniment, or a quartet recital. Performance demands an excellent upper register. Ranger BB-flat to e-flat2. Grade 4-5.
