This duet version provides a fresh take on one of the most standard pieces of the trombone solo repertoire. The trombone 1 part is the complete original solo part, while the trombone 2 part covers the piano part, taking advantage of the original accompaniments' dependence on unisons and octaves. This version could have any number of uses. I would be interested in using this in my studio teaching by playing the trombone 2 part with the student, helping them adapt to the accompaniment and work on intonation and rhythmic interdependence on the way to a successful performance. At the same time the trombone 2 part is equally as challenging as the solo part with many fast sale and arpeggio passages that we all know from the original piano part; this could be a fun way to present the piece on a recital program.
