California Collegiate Honors Trombone Choir

For the 2017 International Trombone Festival (ITF), which will be held at the University of Redlands June 28 to July 1, the ITF is partnering with Bones West to create the first ever California Collegiate Honors Trombone Choir. The Choir will perform at the opening ceremony of the ITF and as part of the ITF Concerto Concert featuring soloists Ian Bousfield, James Markey, Brandt Attema and Michael Mulcahy at the Redlands Bowl. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to perform on the world premier of Stuart Dempster’s new surround sound piece RedBoneLands written for 20 to 200 trombonists during the final concert. Other repertoire will include the premier of a new work commissioned for the ensemble by Dr. Wes Flynn, and Eric Cree’s 76 Trombones from the London Trombone Sound.

Eligibility:

Enrollment is open to undergraduate or graduate trombone students who are enrolled in a college or university in California, or are California residents studying out of state, that have the recommendation by their private teacher or large ensemble director. There is no fee to participate, however, all students need to be members of the International Trombone Association in good standing for 2017 and register for the International Trombone Festival.

There will be two rehearsals in the Spring of 2017 both on Saturdays in Los Angeles. The rehearsals will include a warm up, rehearsal and a master class. The dress rehearsal will be on the morning of June 28th before the opening ceremony in Memorial Chapel at the University of Redlands. The dress rehearsal for the Concerto Concert will be at the Redlands Bowl Thursday evening, June 29th. Rehearsal attendance is mandatory.
