Lenthe’s “The Birth of a Concerto”


Carl Lenthe, professor at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, has launched a multimedia project detailing the “birthing” of David DeBoor Canfield’s Concerto after Mendelssohn for trombone and orchestra.

Seven performance scenes with commentary document how the concerto was ideated, composed, and entered into the repertoire. Peripheral information includes interviews with the composer and collaborators.
