New Music Trombone Assistantship at University of Missouri

A new graduate assistantship is available for the University of Missouri New Music Ensemble. The assistantship comes with full tuition plus a .33 stipend. Students interested in a Master of Music degree and have a passion for new music are encouraged to apply. This is a highly visible and well funded New Music Program that gives students exposure to leading composers and frequent residencies by leading professional new music groups.

Duties may include:

  • Being a member of the New Music Ensemble, which entails 6 hours of rehearsal per week.
  • Performances on and off campus throughout each semester
  • Expected performance at the Mizzou International Composers Festival, held in July each year, (an additional $500 is added for the summer)

Eligibility: Applicants who apply for MM in performance. Applicants in other areas, such as composition, music theory, etc., may also apply but must demonstrate performance skills at the master’s level. MM performance audition procedures will be followed for all applicants, though candidates for these assistantships must perform one or more additional, representative works of new music.
